It's official: the Bulls won the Josh Giddey-Alex Caruso trade, and all those who felt the Thunder "stole" the latter were wrong.
That's not to suggest Caruso hasn't been terrific for OKC in 19.3 minutes a night off the bench, but Giddey has been a game-changer in Chicago, proving to be a player worthy of building the franchise around.
On Wednesday, the Aussie had 28 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists in the Bulls' 119-111 win over the Heat — his seventh triple-double of the season and eighth game of 20 or more points since March 9.
In 70 games, Giddey has amassed 1,022 points, 566 rebounds and 503 assists, joining the two greatest Bulls players in elite company.

Giddey had only 11 20-point games in his entire 2023-24 campaign with the Thunder, where he was sparingly used as an offensive weapon.
In Chicago, Giddey has, on many nights, emerged as the No. 1 scoring option. Since the All-Star break, he's averaging 21.2 points, 10.7 rebounds and 9.3 assists on staggering shooting splits of 50/46/81.
Those superstar-esque numbers starkly contrast with his first few months with the Bulls. Giddey averaged 10.6 points in December while shooting a paltry 29 percent from three. However, head coach Billy Donovan has unleashed him over the past few months, leading to Giddey finding his mojo and role on the team with each passing game.
As Giddey continues to grow in confidence, the Bulls have good reason to feel optimistic about their future. In Giddey, Coby White and Matas Buzelis, they may have found their building blocks of the future.
The young and hungry Bulls will be a handful in next week's play-in tourney, where they battle the Hawks, Magic and Heat for the final two playoff berths.
