Brice Turang may not yet be a household name across Major League Baseball, but the 2025 season is quickly shaping up to be an offensive breakout campaign for the Milwaukee Brewers second baseman.
The reigning Platinum Glove winner has elevated his game, combining elite defense with newfound offensive firepower to establish himself as a well-rounded player.
Turang opened the 2025 season with a 12-game hitting streak, being the only MLB player to achieve this feat this year. The hitting streak was also the second-longest to open up a season in franchise history.

This hitting surge isn’t just about singles; Turang’s offensive improvements are backed by significant advancements in his hitting metrics. Per Baseball Savant, his bat speed has increased by 3 mph compared to 2024, enabling him to square up pitches more effectively. His average exit velocity has jumped from 87 mph last year to an impressive 94.9 mph this season, and even more striking is his barrel percentage, which has soared from 2.4% to 13.5%.
The 25-year-old's adaptability has been another key factor in his success. Against right-handed pitchers, he leads off, while against left-handers, he shifts to the ninth spot in the lineup — remaining just as effective in both roles.
His power was displayed during his most recent home run: a career-best 444-foot blast to right field, marking his first ever against a left-handed pitcher.

Adding a nostalgic touch to his start, Turang has been wearing the batting gloves of former Brewers star Ryan Braun, a relic from his MVP-winning 2011 season.
While the gloves may carry sentimental value, Turang’s offseason power adjustments have truly fueled his red-hot start in 2025.
