Liverpool moves forward with out-of-contract duo, but another star's exit looms

Salah’s contributions have been pivotal to Liverpool’s ambitions, particularly in this season's race for the Premier League title. His extension effectively quashes long-standing rumors linking him to a move to the Saudi Pro League, reaffirming his importance to Liverpool as he enters the latter stages of his career.

The Egyptian forward, in exceptional form this season with 27 goals and 17 assists in 31 Premier League matches, expressed his excitement about continuing his journey at the club.

"Of course I'm very excited. We have a great team now," said Salah. "Before also we had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football ... I played eight years, hopefully it's going to be 10. I'm enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I had the best years in career."

In addition to Salah, captain Virgil van Dijk, 33, is expected to sign a new contract, bringing an end to speculation about his departure. Van Dijk’s leadership and defensive mastery have been essential to Liverpool’s triumphs over the past decade, including its Champions League and Premier League successes. 

His potential new deal would ensure the stability of the team’s defense and its overall structure, strengthening the club’s long-term plans as it continues to chase both domestic and European honors.

However, the future of right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is more uncertain. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, and with his contract also expiring at the end of the season, there are concerns about his future at Anfield. 

Despite reports that Liverpool has offered new terms, no agreement has been reached, and rumors suggest Real Madrid could move for him on a free transfer.

While Liverpool have secured the futures of two of their key players, the ongoing speculation regarding Alexander-Arnold’s departure will continue to dominate headlines until a resolution is reached.
