Bryson DeChambeau is no stranger to contending at major championships, and he has a great chance to win the 2025 Masters if history repeats itself.
DeChambeau had himself near the top of the leaderboard after his first two rounds at Augusta National Golf Club. He accomplished that by shooting a three-under 69 on Thursday and a four-under 68 on Friday. That would be considered a great start for any golfer, but it is a particularly good sign for DeChambeau.
DeChambeau has won two majors in his career — the 2020 U.S. Open and 2024 U.S. Open. Both times, he began the tournament by shooting in the 60s in each of the first two rounds. The only other time he began a major championship with back-to-back rounds in the 60s was at the 2024 PGA Championship, when DeChambeau finished as the runner-up.

The 31-year-old DeChambeau is known for taking a ton of risks. He tries to destroy the ball on almost every tee shot, which is why he tends to miss big when he misses. But when he's on, DeChambeau's length gives him a massive advantage over the field.
DeChambeau finished tied for sixth at the Masters in 2024. He missed the cut the previous two years, so it seems like he has figured something out at Augusta National.
When DeChambeau plays well in the first two rounds of a major, he typically remains dialed in for the entirety of the tournament. That is why he should be viewed as one of the favorites at the Masters heading into the weekend.
