Tyrrell Hatton came unraveled at the end of his second round at the Masters on Friday, and one putt that the Englishman missed is going to haunt him forever.
Hatton played well in the first round at Augusta National Golf Club on Thursday with a three-under 69. He kept the momentum going into the second round with six birdies in his first 15 holes, but then the wheels fell off.
Hatton had a brutal lag putt for birdie on the 16th hole that failed to make it up a slope. Here's a look at where Hatton first putted from and where the ball ended up:

That wasn't nearly as bad as what happened on the 17th hole, when Hatton missed one of the shortest par putts of the week.

All of this talk about “winners at Augusta average 1 double bogey” and things of that nature.
I bet the “number of high side lip outs” is a better determinant than any of that. Has to be. ANGC greens are no joke. pic.twitter.com/pWO1gLd84c
Hatton is known for having a temper, so it is actually somewhat surprising that he held it together after that two-hole stretch. He finished with a par on the 18th hole to shoot a two-under 70.
Despite the late putting woes on Friday, Hatton went into the weekend near the top of the leaderboard with a total score of 5-under-par. He will need to figure out the flat stick if he wants to remain in contention.
