Like a gladiator taking down his highly favored opponent in the Roman Colosseum, Chandler Smith held off Kyle Larson and Corey Heim to win Friday's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Bristol Motor Speedway — a track known as "The Last Great Colosseum."

Smith led twice for 127 laps on Friday evening, including the final 14 circuits following a late-race caution.
After Heim got a poor restart with seven laps to go, Smith was able to drive away while Larson shot to second on the high side.
However, Larson was unable to track down Smith, with Smith earning the sixth win of his Truck Series career in his 68th Truck Series start.
Smith and the No. 38 team were a relatively thrown together team going into the 2025 season, as following 2024, Smith was unsure of his plans in NASCAR racing.
"We kinda had our backs against the wall putting a team together last minute, but holy (expletive). I wouldn't want any different group behind me," Smith told Fox Sports.
Larson, Heim, Tyler Ankrum and Ben Rhodes rounded out the top five, with Layne Riggs, Jake Garcia, Kaden Honeycutt, Rajah Caruth and Gio Ruggiero completing the top 10.
Other notable finishers include Grant Enfinger in 12th, Daniel Hemric in 13th, Corey Day in 15th, Toni Breidinger in 26th and defending Truck Series champion Ty Majeski in 33rd.
The seventh race of the 2025 Craftsman Truck Series season will take place at Rockingham Speedway on April 18 in the first Truck Series race at Rockingham since 2013.
