Watch: Francisco Lindor's milestone HR comes at perfect time for Mets

Shortstop Francisco Lindor delivered the first signature moment of the 2025 New York Mets season on Friday night when he clubbed a clutch, walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift them to a 5-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. It also turned out to be a big milestone home run for Lindor.

Along with giving the Mets the win, that home run is also the 250th of Lindor's career. He is not only the 19th active player to reach that milestone, but he is also just the sixth shortstop to ever reach it. He joins a list that includes only Alex Rodriguez, Cal Ripken Jr., Ernie Banks, Miguel Tejada and Derek Jeter.

Since joining the Mets, Lindor has been one of the driving forces behind their offense and has three consecutive finishes in the top 10 of the National League MVP voting. That includes his runner-up finish a year ago to Shohei Ohtani.

He has been one of their most clutch players and delivered again on Friday. He has been off to a slower start — by his standards — but that hit might be what he needs to really get his season rolling.
