Three potential landing spots for Eagles TE Dallas Goedert

The Philadelphia Eagles are doing their best to ward off the complacency bug as reigning Super Bowl champions. So far, the front office has made the right decisions.

With the NFL Draft — which starts on April 24 in Green Bay — officially a week away, retaining their eight bountiful picks has been a great start. They’ve cleared cap space for the future and have secured a future for cornerstone assets on both sides of the football. But continuing to make such progress comes with sacrifice. In this case, that may be seventh-year tight end Dallas Goedert.

Goedert is entering the final year of his contract. The Eagles would incur an $11.8M cap hit if he’s not moved.

The trade buzz surrounding Goedert is moving simultaneously with the fervent draft noise. The asking price would be draft compensation, whether it would be for next Thursday or future years, according to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports.

Here’s who could be making a push for Goedert and what they could offer the Eagles in a trade package.

New York Jets

The trade: 2026 fourth-round pick and CB Qwan’tez Stiggers

Aaron Glenn is now at the helm, looking to build an unbreakable culture in the Big Apple. A veteran tight end with considerable playoff experience could illuminate the Justin Fields era.

When the Eagles traded Zach Ertz to the Arizona Cardinals in 2021, the return was a 2022 fifth-round selection and cornerback Tay Gowan. A similar kind of package is expected for Goedert.

Indianapolis Colts

The trade: 2025 third-round pick and CB JuJu Brents

No NFL team needs tight end help more than the Indianapolis Colts. As the team figures out the Anthony Richardson/Daniel Jones quarterback carousel, a proven veteran could alleviate the pressure.

Uncommon among many win-now NFL teams in years past, the Eagles’ future has remained pristine. Defensive stars like Jalen Carter, Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell will all need big paydays down the road, so the organization jettisoning contracts (especially those that are expiring) makes sense.

Indianapolis would be a strong landing spot for Goedert if he was to be sent away in such a move.

Los Angeles Rams

The trade: 2025 fourth-round pick and CB Emmanuel Forbes

The Rams have needs at tight end and cornerback. While they currently have solid depth at both, Sean McVay is always going to look for an upgrade.

That's not to say a Jalen Ramsey reunion is materializing. But the veteran head coach is not going to rest until he has a roster built to get over the hump once again in the NFC playoffs.

Los Angeles currently holds the No. 26 pick, which is out of the realm of possibility for Penn State star Tyler Warren. So Goedert could instantly step in for Matthew Stafford in the offense next season.
