Jaylen Brown is dealing with a knee injury as the Boston Celtics prepare to defend their NBA title, and the star forward did not want to talk much about the ailment ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Orlando Magic. He did, however, answer one important question.
Following the Celtics' shootaround on Sunday, Brown was asked about the recent pain injections he received to treat what the team has called a right knee posterior impingement. Brown responded that he is "not here to talk about my knee" and said the condition "is what it is."
A reporter then followed up by asking if Brown will be on a minutes restriction in Boston's first-round series against the Magic. He said he will not.

Brown was sidelined for Boston's final three games of the regular season because of the knee injury. While it is possible the Celtics were just playing it safe, the fact that Brown received injections for treatment suggests the issue is at least somewhat serious. Either way, he says it will not force him into a limited role.
It is possible that Brown will have to play at less than full health for however long the Celtics remain alive in the postseason.
Brown, who averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game during the regular season, was the NBA Finals MVP last year. If he is forced to battle through pain, the Celtics may need to rely more on Jayson Tatum and their other key players.
