Al Horford calls out Magic player over Jayson Tatum's injury

Jayson Tatum suffered an injury on a hard foul during Game 1 of the Boston Celtics' opening-round playoff series against the Orlando Magic on Sunday, and Al Horford does not seem happy about the situation.

Tatum hurt his right wrist after he was fouled hard by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope while driving to the basket late in Boston's 103-86 win over the Magic. The six-time All-Star stayed down for a while and appeared to be in significant pain.

Tatum returned to the game, which was a positive sign. Head coach Joe Mazzulla also told reporters afterward that Tatum's wrist was fine.

Despite that, the Celtics have listed Tatum as doubtful for Game 2 on Wednesday night because of a right distal radius bone bruise.

Horford seemed openly upset after Tatum was fouled by Caldwell-Pope. The 38-year-old was asked on Tuesday if he felt there was "something extra" behind the foul. Horford emphatically replied "yes."

"There was something extra. It was about the second or third time that, especially KCP, went at him in that way," Horford said. "It was all about checking on my guy and making sure he was fine, and that's over with."

Caldwell-Pope also committed a hard foul on Tatum very early in the game. It is possible that is one of the plays that Horford referenced on Tuesday.

Either way, Horford seems to think the wrist injury was avoidable.

Now that Tatum is in danger of missing Game 2, Celtics players will probably be even more irritated about the foul from Caldwell-Pope. That will be something to monitor going forward in the series.
