Watch: Warriors' Jimmy Butler injured after hard fall vs. Rockets

Amen Thompson is known for shutting down opposing scorers. Wednesday night, he did it by sending Jimmy Butler to the locker room.

The Houston Rockets wing undercut Butler on a rebound attempt late in the first quarter of Game 2 against the Golden State Warriors. The foul sent Thompson to the bench with his third personal foul, but it sent Butler limping into the locker room after he appeared to land hard on his tailbone.

Butler stayed on the floor to hit one of his two free throws, then headed off the court and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Despite Thompson taking out Butler's legs, there was no video review or further penalties for the young defensive ace, perhaps because he collided with Draymond Green before the play.

Of course, he didn't need to dive at Butler's knees, either.

The play was reminiscent of another playoff collision that took out an important Warrior, when J.R. Smith got his shot blocked by Andrew Bogut and responded by taking out Bogut at the knees, sidelining him for the rest of the 2016 NBA Finals.

The Rockets-Warriors series has been highly physical in its first two games, with both teams unhappy with which fouls have been called, or uncalled. Thompson's second foul appeared to have been initiated by the Warriors' Green, while Golden State's Gary Payton II was shoved down on a drive with no call. Quinten Post and Steven Adams pushed each other and drew double technical fouls.

The whole series has the spirit of a '90s playoff series, with physicality, cheap shots and low point totals.

The Warriors struggled without Butler on the floor. They ended up losing 109-94 as the Rockets evened the series. Game 3 is on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET in the Bay Area.
