Watch: A's top prospect collects first MLB hit and RBI

It didn't take long for Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz to make an impact in the major leagues.

The A's top prospect made his major league debut Wednesday night against the Texas Rangers and made contributed to the game right away.

Kurtz hit a single up the middle that drove in the A's third run of the first inning for not only his first career major league hit, but his first career major league RBI as well.

The A's have high hopes for their No. 1 prospect, who has a career .336 batting average and 1.121 OPS at the minor league level. The confidence the front office has in Kurtz was shown when they promoted him after just 32 games in the minor leagues.

Kurtz's addition to an already young and upcoming A's lineup could be exactly what the team needs to make a surprise run at an AL West division crown.
