The Boston Celtics were able to get past the Orlando Magic in Game 2 of the opening-round playoff series between the two teams without Jayson Tatum, and they may be aiming to do the same in Game 3.
Tatum has been listed as doubtful for Game 3 of the Celtics-Magic series on Friday night, the team has announced.
Tatum suffered a bone bruise in his right wrist after he was fouled hard by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope while driving to the basket in Game 1 on Sunday night.

Although Tatum returned to Game 1 and even hit a three-pointer after suffering the injury, he has been dealing with significant pain.
The Celtics beat the Magic 109-100 in Game 2 on Wednesday night, even with Tatum sidelined. It is possible the defending NBA champions believe they can easily handle Orlando without Tatum and are playing it safe with their six-time All-Star.
Tatum's injury is particularly noteworthy because he has dealt with wrist issues in the past. He saw specialists at one point in 2023 to determine whether he would need surgery, but he ultimately did not. That injury was to Tatum's left wrist, whereas the newest is to the right.
There has been no indication that Tatum will be sidelined for an extended period of time, but it would not be a surprise if he sits out in Game 3, especially now that the Celtics have 2-0 series lead.
