Analyst dubs Western Conference team desired landing spot for Cooper Flagg

Heading into the 2025 NBA Draft, the one prospect everyone has their eyes on is Cooper Flagg. Days removed from Flagg's official announcement, one analyst gave his thoughts on where he wants the touted prospect to land.

Coming off an impressive freshman campaign at Duke, Flagg is widely believed to be the top pick in this year's draft. He's shown the potential to become a superstar-level talent, resulting in countless teams hoping luck falls their way in the draft lottery.

During Tuesday's episode of "NBA Today, the panel gave their thoughts on Flagg now that he's officially entering the draft. When asked what team he would like to see him wind up on, Bobby Marks went with the San Antonio Spurs.

"I'm gonna say San Antonio," Marks said. "If you pair Cooper Flagg with Victor Wembanyama, and you pair him with De'Aaron Fox, that is a formidable big three."

After winning the 1997 draft lottery, the Spurs were able to pair Tim Duncan with a star-level talent in David Robinson. In the event they secure the top pick this year, they'd have an opportunity to create a modern version of their "Twin Towers" lineup.

As a 6-foot-9 forward who can do just about everything on the floor, Flagg would be an exciting running mate for Wembanyama. The two would be a nightmare matchup for opposing frontcourts given their versatility and athleticism. Not to mention, they could emerge as one of the top defensive duos in the league.

Landing Flagg would somehow instantly put the Spurs in a position to have another golden age for the franchise. Wembanyama is a budding superstar, and De'Aaron Fox is in the prime of his career. Pair that with promising young prospects like Flagg and Stephon Castle, and San Antonio would have all the talent needed to compete for at least the next decade.

Finishing with the league's eighth-worst record, the Spurs have just a 6% chance of landing the top pick. It's a long shot, but crazier things have happened in the NBA.
