Fans react to Jaguars trading with Browns to select Travis Hunter at NFL Draft

The Jacksonville Jaguars are heading into a new era, and they made a huge splash in the 2025 NFL Draft to try to change the direction of their franchise in a big way.

When the draft started, they held pick No. 5 in the first round. After the Tennessee Titans selected quarterback Cam Ward out of Miami No. 1 overall, new general manager James Gladstone decided to shoot his shot and move up to get Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter at No. 2 overall.

The Jaguars moved up and paid a hefty price to do so, but the end result was the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner.

As mentioned, the Jaguars gave up a ton to go up and get Hunter. On the flip side, the Browns required a massive war chest in order to even consider giving up on the opportunity to draft him. Notably, they received pick No. 5, pick No. 36 and pick No. 126 in this 2025 NFL Draft as well as a 2026 first-round pick.

For Browns fans who really wanted Hunter in Cleveland, the strength of that trade package was more than enough to take away the sting.

Of course, there were plenty of jokes made at the Browns' expense. It didn't have to do with what they received back, but rather the fact that Hunter somehow escaped playing in Cleveland.

Of course, the Jaguars also took a shot or two as well.

Notably, though, and for good reason, there is a ton of excitement surrounding the Jaguars going up to get a player who can realistically star on both sides of the ball in the NFL. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jags are going to give Hunter the chance to do just that, as well.

Overall, the excitement was palpable online, and the Jaguars will be a must-watch team next season with Hunter joining their young core.

The last wideout to be selected as high as Hunter in the draft was Calvin Johnson in 2007. He now goes down as the highest drafted cornerback in the modern NFL era.
