Raiders select players with high upside on Day 2 of NFL Draft

The Las Vegas Raiders were busy making trades and selections on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Raiders general manager John Spytek has mentioned how much he values volume when it comes to picks. He wound up with two more after trades with the Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans

Heading into this week, the Raiders had nine selections overall, but have increased that total to 11, using their first pick of the second round (58th overall) on wide receiver Jack Bech of TCU. From there, Las Vegas chose CB Darien Porter of Iowa State (third round, 68th overall); OT Caleb Rogers, Texas Tech (third, 98th overall); and OT Charles Grant, William & Mary (third, 99th overall).

Adding picks was a coup for Spytek, who is known to be a good talent evaluator, but here are the Day 2 selections that could provide the biggest payoffs for the Raiders:

WR Jack Bech, TCU

Bech joins Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker as the other likely starting wide receivers on the roster. Bech is listed at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds and has shown an ability to play with strength. What also stands out is his concentration while running down field, remaining locked on the ball when it is thrown his way. The biggest thing Bech needs to work on at the next level is beating press coverage.

NFL.com draft analyst Eric Edholm said Bech "plays with an inspired style and has a running back-like build. Bech could be a star in Vegas, where the Raiders need difference-making playmakers at wideout."

The Athletic's Dane Brugler compares Bech's style to Puka Nacua, a fifth-rounder who has become a star with the Los Angeles Rams. Could that happen for Bech in Vegas?

CB Darien Porter, Iowa State

Raiders head coach Pete Carroll is sticking with a strategy that worked during his run with the Seattle Seahawks: bringing in tall cornerbacks who possess additional good traits.

Porter is listed at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, an inch taller than three-time first-team All-Pro Richard Sherman. He has good speed, running a 4.3 in the 40-yard dash, and has 33 1/8-inch arms

The Raiders desperately needed another impact corner, with Jakorian Bennett, Darnay Holmes, Kyu Blu Kelly, Decamerion Richardson, Erik Stokes and Sam Webb as the other options on the current roster.

Bennett and Richardson had the most starts last season with seven, but Porter will have a chance to compete for a leading role.
