Austin Hill makes history with Xfinity Series race win at Talladega

For the first time in his NASCAR Xfinity Series career, Austin Hill found his way to victory lane at Talladega Superspeedway.

Hill has been the best superspeedway racer in the Xfinity Series field in recent years, and despite winning a combined eight races at Daytona and Atlanta, he had yet to break through at Talladega.

That changed on Saturday, when Hill beat Jeb Burton and Jesse Love in a photo finish after the caution flag flew on the final lap for a spinning Connor Zilisch.

The win is the ninth for Hill on drafting tracks in the Xfinity Series, which breaks a tie with Dale Earnhardt and Tony Stewart for the most wins on drafting tracks in Xfinity Series history.

It's the second win of the 2025 season for Hill, who also won at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Feb. 22.

"We really had to work for that one," Hill told CW Sports. "I locked in and started pushing the heck out of the No. 2 car (on the final lap). I knew it was either me or the No. 27 (Burton)... To finally conquer Talladega, that's something I've been wanting to do for a really long time."

Burton, Love, Justin Allgaier and Matt DiBenedetto rounded out the top five, with Anthony Alfredo, Harrison Burton, Blaine Perkins, Sheldon Creed and Taylor Gray completing the top 10.

Other notable finishers include Carson Kvapil in 13th, Nick Sanchez in 17th, Brandon Jones in 28th, Aric Almirola in 33rd and Katherine Legge in 34th.

Ten races into the 2025 Xfinity Series season, Allgaier leads Hill by 79 points, while Burton is 10 points above Daniel Dye for the 12th and final provisional playoff spot.

The 11th race of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season will take place at Texas Motor Speedway on May 3. The Andy's Frozen Custard 300 will go green shortly after 2 p.m. ET, with coverage on the CW, PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
