Ryan Preece and Joey Logano originally finished Sunday's Jack Link's 500 at Talladega Superspeedway inside the top five. After post-race inspection, however, they'll be relegated to the back of the pack.
Austin Cindric's car has passed tech and he is the winner. Second-place finisher Preece (too many spoiler shims - three instead of two) and fifth-place finisher Logano (missing a spoiler bolt) have been disqualified. https://t.co/FXF68bxr42

Post-race inspection revealed that Preece's Ford had three shims rather than two on its spoiler, while Logano's Ford was missing a spoiler bolt. Both drivers are disqualified, and points earned from their finishing positions and stage results will not be counted. Preece scored 40 points before the disqualification, while Logano scored 41.
Preece and Logano are now credited with finishes of 38th and 39th, respectively.
Preece crossed the line in second on Sunday afternoon, while Logano crossed the line in fifth. Preece and Logano will each receive one point from Sunday's race, dropping Preece from 12th to 18th in the standings and dropping Logano from eighth to 11th.
The disqualification will move Kyle Larson to the runner-up spot and give Noah Gragson his first top-five finish of the season. Every driver that originally finished sixth or below will see their finishing position move up by two spots.
Both disqualifications can be appealed, and would likely be appealed this week before the May 4 race at Texas Motor Speedway.
It's the second week in a row that a disqualification has shaken up the results of a NASCAR race. Last weekend, Xfinity Series race winner Jesse Love was disqualified, giving the win in the North Carolina Education Lottery 250 to Sammy Smith.
