Where will cornerback Jalen Ramsey play in 2025?
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier discussed a Ramsey trade over the weekend after he previously confirmed the organization intended to deal the three-time All-Pro on April 15.
"Whenever it happens, we will make the deal at the appropriate time," Grier said, per the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson.
With the 2025 NFL Draft in the rearview, which teams make the most sense for Ramsey? Let's look at some potential destinations.
The Packers have a trade saga of their own with cornerback Jaire Alexander. Could a corner-for-corner trade work, or do the Packers and Dolphins prefer draft picks? If it's the latter, Green Bay could recoup whatever it spends in a Ramsey trade by dealing Alexander.
The Packers waited until the seventh round of the draft to add a cornerback, so getting a starter-caliber defensive back in the building should be paramount as we head into summer. Green Bay has tough competition in the NFC North, including the high-octane Lions offense.
Former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is now the Bears' head coach and will bring the same concepts that have made Detroit a juggernaut to Chicago. Meanwhile, Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is the best in football.
Fully intending to contend under head coach Pete Carroll, the Raiders could push more chips into the center of the table by acquiring Ramsey.
Earlier this offseason, Las Vegas traded for quarterback Geno Smith, who joins a potentially potent offense that includes tight end Brock Bowers, 2025 first-round pick (No. 6 overall) running back Ashton Jeanty, and criminally underrated wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.
The Raiders signed corner Eric Stokes to a one-year, $3.5 million contract during free agency and selected sixth-year senior corner Darrien Porter in the third round (No. 68 overall) last Friday. They could make a more significant investment in a secondary that allowed 29 passing touchdowns a season ago with a Ramsey trade.
Before the draft, Rams general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay revealed they were open to a reunion with Ramsey, who played for the organization from 2019-22.
Rams.com senior staff writer Stu Jackson wrote, "Snead confirmed he's had discussions with the Dolphins as part of standard annual draft week conversations each team has."
Jackson noted that both parties "discussed getting through the draft" before broaching a potential trade. The Rams didn't add a cornerback in the draft, which could make them more likely to pursue Ramsey.
"He's a great player, we know him very well... There's a lot of layers that would need to be worked out with a player of his magnitude ... but you would never eliminate the possibility," McVay said.
Cornerback is much less of a need in Tampa after the Bucs selected two corners — Benjamin Morrison (No. 53 overall) and Jacob Parrish (No. 84 overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft, but for a team that should have higher aspirations than simply making the playoffs, adding a veteran like Ramsey might still be worth it.
Ramsey's connections to the rest of the NFC South due to his time with the Rams make him a seamless fit in Atlanta, Carolina, or New Orleans.
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris was Ramsey's defensive coordinator in Los Angeles when the Rams won Super Bowl LVI to cap the 2021 season. That year, Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero served as Rams defensive pass game coordinator and secondary coach.
In 2020, Ramsey's first full season with the Rams, Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley served in the same role in Los Angeles.
After the Falcons hired Morris in January 2024, Ramsey wrote on social media, "Falcons got one of the, if not the best, coach in the NFL."

Following 2023 Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's departure for the Eagles last year, Ramsey discussed the possibility of Miami hiring Staley as its defensive coordinator.
When asked about his experience with Staley, Ramsey responded, "We were the No. 1 defense in the whole NFL ... So it was a good experience." (h/t Palm Beach Post)
"You know, he was one of the first coaches to really use all of my abilities, and so that was nice," Ramsey shared. "I really got to express who I was. That was probably my best year in my career."
