Tyrese Haliburton swipes at 'most overrated' tag after Game 5 win over Bucks

The Bucks were up 118-111 over the Pacers with 40 seconds left in overtime of their Game 5 clash on Tuesday.

Over the next 40 seconds, Tyrese Haliburton would score five of the Pacers' final eight points, including a layup with 1.1 seconds left, to seal his team's 119-118 series-clinching victory. The play capped of a performance in which Haliburton had 26 points, nine assists, five rebounds, three steals and three blocks.

His performance was one for the ages, and even Haliburton knew it. After the game, the All-Star guard threw shade at his NBA peers who voted him "most overrated" as part of The Athletic's annual survey.

The Pacers got into the act as well by posting a clip of Haliburton's three different game-winners against the Bucks over the last two seasons. Haliburton and the Pacers similarly defeated the Bucks in the first round of last year's playoffs after dominating them in the regular season.

After Tuesday's win, Haliburton shockingly revealed the Pacers felt they were in the game even down seven with less than a minute left. Indiana benefited enormously from two costly turnovers by Bucks guard Gary Trent Jr., but they still needed to produce on the other end.

"We knew if we just stayed solid, we could force a turnover," he said. "We knew what we were getting into offensively — just a high pick, and let me go. I know I missed a lot there in overtime, but they kept trusting me and I just kept making plays."

As Haliburton alluded to, he shot 1-of-7 from the floor through the first four minutes of OT, missing four shots from deep. Remarkably, his confidence never wavered, and he came through when it mattered, furthering his reputation as one of the most clutch players in the NBA.

Haliburton's ability to come through in the clutch has earned him comparisons to Pacers legend Reggie Miller, who also helped the franchise win many playoff series victories. The 25-year-old is admittedly honored to be mentioned in the same breath as Miller.

Through the five-game series against the Bucks, Haliburton averaged 17.6 points, 11.6 assists and 6.4 rebounds. The Pacers will now face the juggernaut Cavaliers in the second round of the postseason.
