Mario Cristobal, Miami get massive transfer portal commitment

Mario Cristobal is trying to get his Miami Hurricanes to take the next step.

Last season, they went 10-3, and at one point, the 'Canes were ranked as high as No. 4 in the country. Unfortunately for them, what looked to be a potential College Football Playoff season ended with a loss in the Pop-Tarts Bowl.

Miami just lost quarterback Cam Ward to the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft (to the Tennessee Titans), but Cristobal was able to bring in former Georgia starting quarterback Carson Beck to fill his big shoes.

That was a big transfer for Miami. Speaking of, the Hurricanes landed another important player via the portal on Wednesday. Hayes Fawcett of On3 is reporting that former North Dakota State running back CharMar Brown is going to be a Hurricane in 2025.

Brown was awesome for the Bison last season. He rushed 244 times for 1,181 yards and 15 touchdowns in what was only his freshman campaign.

He'll have three seasons to play three now that he's in Coral Gables, and he projects to be a huge part of Miami's plans in 2025 and beyond.

“What makes Miami a great fit for me is I come from an offense that is physical, tough and I feel like having that aspect to it of me doing the same thing in the ACC will bring wonders to the offense, something that’s missing, something that can wear out the defense," Brown told On3 regarding his decision to commit to the Hurricanes.

He's a 5-foot-11, 220-pound bruiser, originally from Omaha, Nebraska, who was a 3-star recruit in the 2023 class.

He made a name for himself at NDSU, and now he has a chance to compete for a CFP championship with Miami.

Nebraska and Cal were also in the running for Brown's transfer commitment.
