Ruffing spent 22 years in Major League Baseball from 1924-1947, with a two year hiatus in 1943 and 1944 to serve in WWII. Spending the majority of his time in the big leagues with the New York Yankees, Ruffing started 538 games in his career, tossing 335 complete games and 45 shutouts while leading the American League in wins in 1938.
