Larson was substituting for Connor Zilisch, who was injured in a last-lap crash at Talladega on April 26.
After a caution on Lap 188, Larson and a few other lead lap cars came down pit road for fresh tires, with the top six staying out. After two more yellow flags flew in quick succession, Larson found himself on the front row with Mayer for the race's final restart. Despite Mayer's best effort, Larson pulled away on the exit of turn 2 with two laps to go and never looked back, earning his second Xfinity Series win of 2025 and the 17th of his career.
"There was a lot of survival throughout that race," Larson told CW Sports. "It was fun. If I could get to the lead, I could stretch (my lead) out... Thanks to JRM for letting me run this thing today. Obviously, wish Connor was in the car, but it means a lot that they thought of me to call up to run this thing."
Mayer slipped back and ended up finishing fifth, but Nick Sanchez was the biggest victim of the final restart, as the rookie driver finished 20th after making contact with the wall with two laps to go.
Taylor Gray finished runner-up to Larson, with Riley Herbst, Austin Hill and Mayer rounding out the top five. Harrison Burton, Jesse Love, Ryan Sieg, Brandon Jones and Jeb Burton completed the top 10.
Other notable finishers include William Sawalich in 13th, Corey Day in 16th, Sammy Smith in 18th, Carson Kvapil in 19th and Katherine Legge in 32nd.
Defending Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier finished 35th after a late crash that also involved Kris Wright. Meanwhile, Sheldon Creed (36th) and Josh Williams (37th) were also involved in crashes, while last-place finisher Christian Eckes (38th) suffered engine issues.
Allgaier's points lead was slashed significantly by Hill, who now only trails Allgaier by 51 points, 12 races into the 2025 season.
The Xfinity Series has the next two weeks off before returning to action at the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the 13th race of the season on May 24. The BetMGM 300 will go green shortly after 4:30 p.m. ET, with coverage on the CW, PRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
