Justin Allgaier led 99 laps and was in position to battle for the win in Saturday's Andy's Frozen Custard 300 at Texas Motor Speedway, but a late crash ensured that the defending Xfinity Series champion would see his day end early.
Allgaier started second, won Stage 1, and led Saturday's race before the final cycle of green flag pit stops. While Kyle Larson did pass Allgaier during the cycle, which had yet to be completed before Allgaier's crash, Allgaier was still in a great position to earn a top-five finish and potentially race for the win.
On Lap 156, Allgaier closed on Kris Wright's lapped vehicle on the exit of turn 4. Wright was unable to hold a consistent line through the corner, making it difficult for Allgaier's much faster car to pass Wright. Both drivers made contact with each other on the corner exit, which sent Wright spinning through the infield grass and Allgaier into the outside wall, effectively ending his chances of winning the race.
Here is the incident, which put an end to an otherwise dominant day for Justin Allgaier. As he approaches the slower lapped car of Kris Wright, Wright changes lanes several times, and it leads to Allgaier crashing. pic.twitter.com/0JQtCtjfMH

It's far from the first heartbreak Allgaier has experienced during his NASCAR career, but the defending Xfinity Series champion has a reason to be frustrated with Wright after the crash.
