Why Bayern Munich's 33rd Bundesliga title should be even sweeter for Harry Kane

Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane's trophy cabinet is no longer empty.

On Sunday, Bayern Munich clinched its 33rd Bundesliga title after second-place Bayer Leverkusen had a 2-2 draw in its road match against Freiburg. With two games remaining in the German league's 2024-25 season, there's no way Bayer Leverkusen (19-11-2, 68 points) can catch Bayern Munich (23-7-2, 76 points).

Bayern Munich could've clinched Kane's first title on Saturday, but it had a 3-3 draw in its road match vs. RB Leipzig. The 31-year-old Briton didn't play in the game because he was suspended for receiving his fifth yellow card last week.

Kane seems thrilled. In a clip on his X account, he posted himself singing Queen's "We Are the Champions."

Before Leverkusen's draw on Sunday, Kane had played in 674 matches for club and country without winning a trophy and had come close to winning that elusive title multiple times.

In 12 seasons with Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, Kane lost a Champions League final and two Carabao Cup finals. He has lost two European Championship finals (2021 and 2024) with England.

Kane has captured several accolades throughout his storied career, including the 2023-24 European Golden Shoe. This award is given to the top goalscorer in league matches from the top division of a European national league.

Still, the lack of titles has served as fuel for Kane's critics throughout his career.

"There are many people, who throughout my career, only talk about the fact I haven't won a title yet. It would be nice to silence a few of them," Kane said on April 25, via theScore's Agence France-Presse.

Now, Kane has silenced some of his critics and further solidified himself as one of the best players of his era.
