Scottie Scheffler earned his first victory of the PGA Tour season this weekend and did so in rather dominant, and historic, fashion.
By shooting a 253 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, finishing 31-under par, he tied the record for the lowest 72-hole performance in PGA history.
He tied the mark previously set by Justin Thomas in 2017 (Sony Open) and Ludvig Aberg in 2023 (RSM Classic).
Scheffler had a chance to break the record but did not hit a good chip shot on the 17th hole Par 3.
What had to make the performance even more special for Scheffler is that he did it at his hometown event in McKinney, Texas. Scheffler grew up in the Dallas area and considers this his hometown tournament.
This weekend's win is the 14th championship of Scheffler's career.
He won this weekend's event by a whopping eight strokes, making it the largest margin of victory in the 80-year history of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

Scheffler entered the week as the No. 1-ranked golfer on the men's tour and is not likely to drop anytime soon, especially after such a dominant performance.
During his four rounds this weekend, he shot a 61 on Thursday, a 63 on Friday, a 66 on Saturday and finished with a 63 on Sunday.
Erik van Rooyen finished in second, shooting a 23-under 261.
