The St. Louis Blues were a defensive stand away from advancing to the second round of the 2025 NHL Playoffs. Cole Perfetti had other ideas.

Perfetti’s Winnipeg Jets trailed the Blues 3-2 with under two minutes left in their Game 7 first-round matchup at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg. The Jets emptied their net to sell out for the game-tying goal.

Perfetti was at the right place at the right time during a mad scramble in the closing seconds of the final period. The Jets had time for just one final shot at goal. Forward Nikolaj Ehlers zipped a pass to Kyle Connor, who flicked it inside to Perfetti for a tip-in goal with 1.6 seconds left.

Perfetti’s goal made history as the latest game-tying goal in an NHL playoff Game 7. Sunday’s Game 7 was just another reminder that a game is never truly over until it’s over.
