Five NFL players who benefited the most from their team's offseason moves

With the 2025 NFL Draft and free agency over, each team has plenty of new faces, and fans have months to convince themselves that these new reinforcements will make a positive impact.

However, the roster will first see what these new additions can do. With voluntary workouts and training camps on the horizon, these five players benefited the most from their team's offseason moves.

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence

Many NFL analysts consider Lawrence the quarterback with the most untapped potential, and 2025 may be his best chance to realize it. With six new offensive linemen added to the roster, the Jaguars' porous front should be shored up, giving Lawrence some breathing room to throw.

Still, the team's addition of the two-way phenomenon, Travis Hunter, will make Lawrence feel elated to start team activities. Hunter won the 2024 Heisman Trophy in part for catching 92 passes for 1,152 yards, and with the Jaguars seeing Hunter as a top wide receiver, Lawrence will have a potential day-one All-Star to throw to.

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers

Even more impressive than Nabers' 109 receptions for 1,204 yards in 2024 is that he recorded those stats with four subpar quarterbacks throwing to him. This year, he'll have quarterback Russell Wilson to provide stability as a veteran and former Super Bowl winner.

It's hard to imagine the 36-year-old Wilson playing at the top of his game again, but even Wilson not in top form will be better than anyone behind center during Nabers' rookie season. With rookie QB Jaxson Dart waiting in the wings, Nabers enters his sophomore year with even more upside.

Philadelphia Eagles LB Zack Baun

Last season, linebacker Zack Baun went from an unknown player to winning first-team All-Pro honors. In 2025, Baun will have an impact player for a partner in the University of Alabama's Jihaad Campbell.

As the top linebacker in the 2025 draft class, Campbell was a bargain at pick No. 31 and will provide versatility off the ball and on the line of scrimmage as a pass rusher. This extra defensive threat will open up even more opportunities for Baun, who recorded 151 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss and five quarterback hits in 2024.

Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams

No other player this offseason had an entire team restructure around him like the Bears reoriented themselves around Caleb Williams. The No. 1 pick from the 2024 NFL Draft got a new head coach in Detroit Lions offensive wizard Ben Johnson, who promised to give Williams his best shot to succeed.

That appears to be the case, with the Bears trading for and investing in top offensive linemen. The team also took an offensive approach to the draft, getting skill position players with their top picks, like Michigan University tight end Colston Loveland with the No. 10 pick. The Bears hope that with a strong foundation, Williams can be the savior Chicago has been looking for.

Denver Broncos CB Pat Surtain II

The Broncos' secondary is an elite unit anchored by the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year, cornerback Pat Surtain II. With the additions of former All-Pro Talanoa Hufanga in free agency and CB Jahdae Barron late in the first round, the Broncos' defense can take some pressure off Surtain II.

Opposing quarterbacks who gameplan to throw away from Surtain II anyway will have to contend with tougher defenders, making all their passing options difficult in 2025.

Conor Killmurray

Conor Killmurray is a long-suffering fan of New York sports, particularly the Giants and Mets—a potent combination for heartbreak, if you ask him. He graduated from West Chester University with a degree in English and enjoys searching for the most interesting sports stories to write about.
