Four possible options for the Steelers to replace WR George Pickens 

Now that the Steelers have traded George Pickens, the focus shifts to what Pittsburgh does now. Moving Pickens seemed inevitable after the addition of DK Metcalf, but the Steelers are now in need of a new No. 2 wide receiver.  

Pittsburgh clearly didn't want to invest in Pickens' inconsistency on the field or his overall temperament long-term. 

Here are four available receivers who could fill what the Steelers are looking for. 

Allen Lazard

With the possibility of signing Aaron Rodgers still looming over the Steelers' offseason, one of his favorite targets could be on the market. Lazard, who played with Rodgers in both Green Bay and New York, would likely represent a cheap and easy option for Pittsburgh. 

While Lazard would represent a receiver with an established chemistry with Rodgers, there are valid concerns about what he still has left. 

Lazard caught 37 balls for 530 yards in 2024. His best season came in his final year with the Packers when he made 60 receptions for 780 yards. 

Amari Cooper

For a bigger splash, the Steelers could  take a gamble on former first-round pick trying to reestablish his name across the league. 

Cooper is coming off a rough 2024 season that saw him get traded from Cleveland to Buffalo. He made 20 catches for 297 yards in eight games with the Bills after the trade. 

But to Cooper's credit, he has reached 1,000 yards six times and posted his highest single-season yardage total (1,250) in 2023 with the Browns. 

Cooper, 30, may have more productive years left and would be a veteran to pair with Metcalf. 

Keenan Allen 

When looking for reliable veterans, the Steelers would be able to find everything they need in Allen. The six-time Pro Bowler spent one rough season in Chicago after 11 years with the Chargers franchise. 

Allen only brought in 70 catches for 744 yards, numbers below his normal production, but also statistics that the Steelers could use nonetheless. He's only two seasons removed from a 108-catch season — his personal best. 

Allen has been a steady force with a myriad of quarterbacks throughout his career and would offer the Steelers more locker room leadership as well. 

Tyler Boyd 

Steelers fans have long wanted to bring Tyler Boyd home to Pittsburgh and the stars may finally align for that dream to come true. 

But most importantly, Boyd represents more than just a native son being able to play in front of his friends and family — he was a star at Pitt after a legendary high school career in the area.  

Boyd did endure his worst season since 2017 in his lone year with the Titans, recording just 390 yards in 16 games, but does possess a toughness and physicality that would make him a fan favorite beyond his Pittsburgh roots. Boyd does have two 1,000-yard seasons on his resume, granted the last came back in 2019.
