Watch: Yankees catcher records first walk-off RBI in late rally

The New York Yankees only had three hits in the game, but a walk-off hero emerged on Wednesday night in their 4-3 win over the San Diego Padres in 10 innings.

With a 2-2 count in the bottom of the 10th, Yankees catcher and pinch-hitter J.C. Escarra hit a sacrifice fly off a 98 mph four-seam fastball to drive in left fielder Jasson Dominguez from third base. It was Escarra's first career walk-off RBI.

Appearing in his 12th career game, Escarra only had one home run and three RBIs coming into the game with a subpar batting average of .172.

Padres starter Dylan Cease took a no-hitter into the seventh until center fielder Cody Bellinger homered one out into the inning for New York's first hit. Yankees ace Max Fried was phenomenal with eight strikeouts and only one run allowed through seven innings.

Escarra's heroics to finish the game clinched the series win for the Yankees (21-16) over the Padres ahead of their six-game west coast road trip that begins on Friday against the Athletics.

Regardless of the playing time he gets going forward, Escarra drove in a winning run at Yankee Stadium, which is not something a lot of people can say.
