New York Mets right fielder Juan Soto has yet to live up to his lofty contract, but he may be breaking out of his early cold spell.
Against the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road on Wednesday, Soto powered the Mets to a 7-1 victory.
In the top of the sixth inning, he broke a scoreless tie when he crushed a 92 mph four-seam fastball from Arizona starting pitcher Merrill Kelly for a 427-foot solo home run into center field.

Soto continued to find his swing on his next at-bat in the top of the eighth inning. The outfielder smacked an 85 mph cutter from relief pitcher Jalen Beeks for a 380-foot solo homer into left field.

Soto now has two multi-homer games this season, both of which have come against Arizona. He had two home runs in a 4-2 home loss on May 1.
Soto didn't play like a four-time All-Star in April, but he has been on a power surge in May. Through his first 22 at-bats this month, he has slashed .318/.464/.682 and hit two homers. In 99 at-bats in April, he slashed .232/.347/.354 and had just two homers.
This offseason, the Mets signed Soto to a record-breaking 15-year, $765M contract. Despite the slow start, the 26-year-old could be turning the corner and soon provide a return on New York's massive investment.
