The Minnesota Timberwolves have issued a statement addressing an alleged verbal altercation that took place between Draymond Green and a fan on Thursday night.

Green had a verbal exchange with a fan during Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals series between the Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The incident appeared to occur when Green was using a stationary bike to stay loose as the Warriors were being blown out 117-93 by the T-Wolves.

A fan who was at the game shared a video on social media of Green going back and forth with someone. The fan who took the video indicated that the fan involved in the exchange called Green a monkey.

The Timberwolves released a statement on Friday addressing the alleged incident. The team said one fan was ejected for violating the fan code of conduct. Another fan was “identified by surrounding patrons as making racially charged comments towards Green” but left the arena before security could identify him. The Timberwolves said they are working to identify the second fan.

Timberwolves serenaded Green with a two-word taunt at one point. The former Defensive Player of the Year picked up a technical foul during the game, and he is inching closer to being suspended because of it.

Following Golden State’s loss, Green told reporters that he feels he has received so many technical fouls because he is being treated like “an angry black man.” He did not make any mention of the alleged incident with the fan.
