Cam Ward is already throwing his weight around within the Tennessee Titans organization.
Ward, the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, was unequivocally the biggest draw at the Titans’ rookie minicamp at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park in Nashville, Tenn. The top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft was also responsible for one unheralded rookie getting some extra looks at camp.
While speaking to reporters on Saturday, Ward was asked if he “nudged” the Titans to sign undrafted Miami wide receiver Xavier Restrepo. Ward did not hide that he played a part in Tennessee bringing in his top target during his lone season with the Hurricanes.
“I did push for him,” answered Ward. “Every team that I visited with, I pushed for him. He’s one of the best route runners in college football last year. First-team all-conference. He’s an All-American. He’s never lost in man coverage. … Why wouldn’t we push for him?”
So far, Restrepo has not made Ward look bad in the slightest. The 23-year-old has led off all wide receiver drills at the Titans’ rookie minicamp. He’s reportedly looked “the most polished” among the young wideouts.

Several questions about Restrepo led to him going unselected in the 2025 NFL Draft. He posted a pedestrian 40-yard dash time of 4.83 at Miami’s Pro Day, which Restrepo even felt the need to address on social media. At 5’10” and 196 pounds, he also does not have the physical attributes that would entice most NFL scouts.
What Restrepo did do was produce. In 2024, he led the ACC in both receiving yards (1,127) and receiving touchdowns (11, tied with Clemson’s Antonio Williams). He’s also built a rapport with Ward, enough for his quarterback to go to bat for him.
