The Philadelphia Phillies can always seem to count on left fielder Kyle Schwarber finding a way to get on base.
In the bottom of the second inning in a road game against the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday, the 32-year-old slugger blasted an 89 mph changeup from Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher Luis Ortiz into right field for a solo home run. The 392-foot dinger gave Philadelphia a 1-0 lead.
With the homer, the 2022 Silver Slugger has reached a base in 46 consecutive games, the longest active streak in the majors. In the wild-card era, the only Phillies player with a longer on-base streak is Bobby Abreu (48 games in 2000-01), via MLB's X account.

"It's impressive because I see [Schwarber] now as a complete hitter," Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Saturday, per WTXF-TV in Philadelphia. "He uses the entire field. He takes his walks, but obviously has big-time power. He's been really impressive through this stretch.
"You know, it's not hits. It's not [Joe DiMaggio]. But it's very, very important."
DiMaggio, of course, set Major League Baseball's record for most consecutive games with a hit with 56 during the 1941 season.
Schwarber's streak may not be as significant as DiMaggio's. However, it has certainly benefited one of the best offenses in baseball. Through its first 39 games, Philadelphia was second in the majors in on-base percentage (.338) and tied for 10th in runs (188).
