Heading into the 2025 NBA offseason, the Houston Rockets are one team many around the league are watching. Armed with a war chest of assets, the team seems to be open to any possibility of a major upgrade.
In recent weeks, the Rockets have been connected to Giannis Antetokounmpo. After another playoff exit in the first round, developments emerged that the former MVP is "open-minded" about a change of scenery for the first time in his career.
When it comes to hypothetical trades that land Giannis in Houston, Jalen Green is often the key piece involved. However, recent news suggests that the former No. 2 pick isn't the only notable talent on the table. Insider Kurt Helin recently reported that the Rockets are open to the idea of moving Alperen Sengun for the Bucks star.
"Houston would be open to trading Alperen Sengun, league sources told NBC Sports, but the Bucks may be higher on a Jalen Green-based trade (depending on how they rate Green). Jabari Smith Jr. is likely part of any deal, and the Rockets have a lot of future first-round picks — their own and others, such as Brooklyn and Phoenix picks — that could be part of the trade. It likely takes a third team to make the math work, but it’s very doable."
Seven top potential Giannis Antetokounmpo landing spots in a trade

Spurs, Rockets and Nets feel far more possible than the glamour market trades (no Knicks and Lakers fans, it's not happening).https://t.co/4oy5Uv4H48
Sengun, 22, is among the most exciting young talents on the Rockets. He is coming off an All-Star campaign for Houston where he averaged 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.9 assist in 76 matchups.
If the Bucks are going to trade Giannis, they'll need a new cornerstone piece to build around moving forward. As a promising do-it-all center, Sengun could be that player for Milwaukee. There is no telling what his production would look like in a featured role where the roster is built to maximize his strengths.
Parting with Sengun also does away with any spacing concerns the Rockets would have if they were to pull off this trade. Giannis isn't much of a threat from beyond the arc, and neither is Amen Thompson. For this situation to work, Houston would have to find a floor-spacing option at center to help open up the floor offensively.
The Rockets are armed with a lot of future draft picks and can put together an enticing package for Giannis. If the Bucks could land a slew of picks and an All-Star-level talent in Sengun, it would drastically speed up their rebuild as they pivot from such a franchise-altering move.
