Chandler Smith wins NASCAR Truck Series race at North Wilkesboro in wild OT finish

Chandler Smith picked up his second win of the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season in a wild overtime finish at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Saturday.

After a late caution forced the Window World 250 into overtime, Smith restarted on the inside of race leader Corey Heim with two laps to go. When the white flag flew, Heim and Smith's teammate, Layne Riggs, went into turn one side by side.

But Riggs couldn't clear Heim, and after a failed slide job from Riggs resulted in Heim spinning, Smith took his opportunity to drive under Riggs and hold on to score the win.

Smith was the fastest truck in Saturday's practice session, but an unapproved adjustment forced him to start at the rear.

"We fought and clawed today," Smith told Fox Sports. "Had to start in the back, and I feel like at this place, tires kinda matter, but they also kinda didn't. I didn't think we were as good as the No. 11 (Heim), obviously we had a tire advantage on him.

"That last restart, I did everything but the right thing. My teammate Layne Riggs did everything perfectly, and we came out on the right end of the stick."

Heim, who led 162 of the race's 255 laps, finished 17th after the spin. After climbing out of his truck, Heim began walking down pit road to find Riggs and have a conversation.

"Just why?" Heim said when asked what he wanted to say to Riggs. "He tried to do it to the No. 7 (Carson Hocevar) last week for the win. Mission accomplished for him this week, and it cost him one, too. We've given up so many of them this year after just dominating."

"He (Riggs) had an opportunity to win, and he just wrecked us."

When Heim eventually found Riggs, the conversation was short. Heim's crew chief, Scott Zippadelli, also chatted with Riggs briefly.

Meanwhile, it was Riggs's second straight week of coming up just one spot shy of a win, though he was disqualified after his runner-up finish at Kansas on May 10.

"I feel like he (Heim) got loose into 3 and 4 (with two to go) and gave the bottom up," Riggs said. "We were side by side down the frontstretch, I had a huge run and went bottom. I didn't fence him, I slid up the track and gave him a lane there. We're at North Wilkesboro on the last lap for a Truck win. I don't feel like I really did anything wrong there."

"I think roles reversed, it's hard racing all day. I feel like everybody came out of there alive. We had a good finish. I really only care about me and my team."

Riggs, Tyler Ankrum, Daniel Hemric and Grant Enfinger rounded out the top five, with Ty Majeski, Gio Ruggiero, Kaden Honeycutt, Kyle Busch and Sammy Smith completing the top 10.

Ruggiero won Stage 1, with Enfinger winning Stage 2.

Other notable finishers include Jake Garcia, who placed 12th, Stewart Friesen, who placed 14th, Rajah Caruth, who placed 15th, Toni Breidinger, who placed 21st, and Brent Crews, who placed 22nd.

The 11th race of the Craftsman Truck Series season will take place at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 23. The North Carolina Education Lottery 200 will go green shortly after 8:30 p.m. ET, with coverage on FS1, NRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
