Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark are picking up right where they left off last season.

The Chicago Sky star Reese and the Indiana Fever sensation Clark had a heated moment with one another in the second half of their WNBA season opener on Saturday afternoon. In the third quarter at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., Reese caught the ball with a wide-open lane to the basket and was fouled hard by Clark.

Reese was knocked to the ground and immediately popped up to confront Clark, who simply walked away from the situation. Referees and other players stepped in to intervene before Reese could get to Clark. Check out the video.

Upon an official review, Clark was given a flagrant foul on the play. Both her and Reese also picked up offsetting technical fouls for the incident.

Reese would go on to split the two ensuing flagrant-foul free throws. Meanwhile, the Fever were already leading by double digits at the time and extended their advantage even further from there, taking a 65-45 lead over the Sky at the end of the third quarter.

The drama between Reese and Clark was exactly why the WNBA schedule-makers had the Sky and the Fever opening up the season against each other. Reese and Clark have some very well-documented beef dating back to their days in college. Saturday’s game was also a means of payback for Clark, who herself was on the receiving end of a hard flagrant foul from Reese during a matchup last season.
