The Texas Longhorns appeared to be on the outside looking in of Lamar Brown's recruitment for a minute.
He announced visits to Miami, Texas A&M, LSU and Florida State and, at the time, declared that everyone else had fallen off.
"It is really those four schools,” Brown had told Chad Simmons of On3 in February.
There has since been a massive change in the status of Brown's recruitment. Brown decided to cancel his official visit to Florida State, and now it's coming out that he's going to visit with the Texas Longhorns instead.
Brown will instead visit Texas on June 6. @justinwells2424 https://t.co/pAvC5FRnNR

That's a seismic change in the recruiting world because Brown is ranked as the No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports. It's also a massive move for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns, because it does feel they have all of a sudden rocketed into top contention for the elite lineman.
Brown values relationships, and he speaks very highly of the relationship he's developed with Texas defensive ends coach LaAllan Clark.
“When I look at schools, I wanna have that great relationship with my position and they [the Longhorns] top it off,” Brown told Simmons. “I will 100% say that I have the best relationship with Coach Clark than any other school I’m interested in right now. And this is not even a knock off to the other DL coaches because I have a great relationship with them also.”
Clark himself is a Baton Rouge native. His joining the Texas staff after a stint as a graduate assistant for Ohio State could end up having massive implications for the Longhorns on the recruiting trail if they're able to land Brown.
According to 247Sports, Brown is the No. 7 overall player in the country. He's a 6-foot-4, 285-pound two-way star for University Lab High School on both sides of the line, but all the schools that are recruiting him like him on the defensive side of the football at the college level.
