At long last, the return of Atlanta Braves superstar outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. is imminent.
The 27-year-old is expected to make his 2025 debut on Friday night in Atlanta against the San Diego Padres after completing a year-long recovery from an ACL tear.

It's a significant development for the Braves, who started this season 0-7 but have since evened out at 24-25 through their first 49 games of the season. With Acuna Jr. and starting pitcher Spencer Strider returning from injury as well, Atlanta looks poised to continue its charge toward another postseason berth.
Importantly, the four-time All-Star also returns during outfielder Jurickson Profar's 80-game PED suspension, which has shortened the Braves' outfield depth this season and gives them one fewer option in the playoffs, should they make it.
But what can we realistically expect from Acuna Jr., specifically, upon re-acclimating to game action?
First, it seems safe to assume he'll reclaim his leadoff spot in the Braves' lineup, setting the table for the likes of first baseman Matt Olson, third baseman Austin Riley, designated hitter Marcell Ozuna and others. A dangerous lineup just got that much more potent with the 27-year-old's dynamic combination of power and speed.
On the latter, don't expect Acuna Jr. to run wild like he did in 2023 when he stole 73 bags; Atlanta will more than likely be cautious in easing back its MVP-winning outfielder on the base paths. Preserving Acuna Jr.'s health will be paramount, especially since he's only played in 150 or more games twice in his seven-year career.
The Braves will also look forward to having Acuna Jr.'s stellar glove work and cannon arm back in right field, forming an elite defensive trio with Eli White and Michael Harris II.
Despite missing many of Atlanta's postseason runs over the last several years, the Braves (and the game of baseball, for that matter) are undeniably better when Acuna Jr. is healthy and playing at his best.
