10 names to know for the NCAA Baseball Tournament

The 2025 NCAA D-I Baseball Tournament kicks off this weekend and our Field of 64 is set. Looking to chop it up and impress your coworkers at the water cooler? Here are 10 names to note for the upcoming college baseball postseason and College World Series.

1. Cam Cannarella, CF, Clemson

Last year, Cannarella made his name known with a spectacular grab in the Super Regionals. This year, the junior outfielder continued to stand near the top of MLB Draft rankings, though he took a step back at the plate. Keep an eye out in center field during the Clemson Regional for this walking defensive highlight reel.

2. JB Middleton, SP, Southern Miss

When Southern Miss needs a closeout arm, they call upon Middleton. The junior righty fanned 114 batters this season en route to a 2.01 ERA and 10-1 record. Unfortunate for all of the Golden Eagles' foes, Middleton allowed just a .168 opposing average.

3. Kade Anderson, SP, LSU

How about a nation-leading 145 strikeouts in just 89 IP? Anderson is just a sophomore who took an enormous jump this season. Making a name for yourself in Baton Rouge is hard to do in the wake of guys like Paul Skenes and Aaron Nola. But Anderson is doing so in exciting fashion.

4. Drew Burress, OF, Georgia Tech

When Burress hits home runs, the immediate vicinity knows about it. He knocked 18 homers in his sophomore season and continues to be one of baseball's biggest stars.

5. Liam Doyle, SP, Tennessee

MLB's No. 10 Draft candidate racked up a ridiculous 142 strikeouts this season, second only to Anderson. The Ole Miss transfer began the season as an All-SEC first-team selection and lived up to the hype.

6. Cooper Torres, INF, ETSU

Torres earned the Southern Conference's Player of the Year award and for good reason. The senior knocked 23 homers and logged 40 extra-base hits. But it's not only power – Torres bat .378 this season, tops on ETSU.

7. Jake Knapp, SP, North Carolina

No, not the PGA pro. Knapp is hard to miss, standing 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds on the mound for UNC. His pitches, though, are extremely easy to miss. He logged a 2.17 ERA (12-0 record) and issued just 13 walks in 87 innings this year. Expect the grad student to end up all-everything.

8. Will Jones, SP, Northeastern

New England's college baseball factory turned out another gem. Jones stands 6-foot-5 and worked his way into the Huskies' ace role. In 2025, the senior logged a flawless 11-0 record with a 1.82 ERA. Jones is so good, Northeastern might be a candidate to steal a Super Regional bid.

9. Kyson Witherspoon, SP, Oklahoma

Oklahoma's flamethrower has been making a name for himself for years now. Witherspoon rung up 120 batters this season thanks to a fastball that tops out near 100 mph. Also watch for his brother, Malachi, also a pitcher for the Sooners.

10. Lucas Moore, CF, Louisville

Moore is one of the most efficient players in all of college baseball. He hit a team-best .372 and stole 46 bases this year, third-most in the country. He's been caught stealing once. When Moore gets on base, he puts Louisville in a position to score.

Brett Gibbons

Brett is the ultimate college football traveler, currently en route to experience a game day at every FBS stadium. He is a former Division I recruiter at Bowling Green and Texas State, and his writing background includes analyzing NCAA betting markets. Also a high school football coach, Brett lives and dies by the gridiron
