Watch: Georgia HC Kirby Smart shuts down idea Texas will win SEC

There could be a rivalry in the making between the Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs, especially now that Texas is in the SEC.

It's also possible because Georgia head coach Kirby Smart seems hellbent on keeping his control on the SEC crown. The Bulldogs have won the SEC championship in two of the last three seasons, and Smart recently gave Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns zero credit for their arrival on the scene in college football's most competitive conference.

In a recent behind-the-scenes look at a photo shoot for the cover of EA Sports College Football 26, Smart was asked by a YouTuber what it would feel like to watch the Longhorns hoist the SEC championship trophy in 2025.

He didn't even give that question a second thought.

In a deadpan response, Smart replied, “In what sport? Baseball or basketball?"

Texas was great in its first season in the SEC. Sarkisian led his team to the SEC Championship game, but the Longhorns were defeated in that contest by Smart and the Bulldogs in overtime.

In fact, the Longhorns were 0-2 against Georgia last season, because the Bulldogs also beat them on their home field when they were ranked No. 1, a 30-15 blowout in favor of the then-No. 5 Bulldogs.

So yes, if Smart wants to talk trash on the Longhorns, he's got plenty of ammo to back it up.

Sarkisian and Texas will be looking for revenge in 2025, though. The Horns are once again a favorite to make it to the College Football Playoff and potentially win it all behind quarterback Arch Manning.

Notably, they're scheduled to play Georgia, in Athens, on Nov. 15.
