The Detroit Tigers entered the week reeling from one of their worst series of the season — they lost three out of four to the Cleveland Guardians. But after a three-game sweep of the San Francisco Giants, Major League Baseball's best team is riding high once again.
On Wednesday, Detroit completed the sweep with a 4-3 win over the Giants. Colt Keith and Justyn-Henry Malloy drove in two runs each as part of a big four-run fifth inning, which turned out to be all the Tigers needed to come out on top for the 37th time this season.

The victory marked the Tigers' fourth straight win after a complete game gem from ace pitcher Tarik Skubal allowed Detroit to take Sunday's game and avoid beings swept by the Guardians.
Proving luck is part of winning a division title throughout the course of a long season, Detroit holds a significant lead in the American League Central despite its up and down week.
As of Wednesday, the Tigers are 37-20 and have a six-game lead over both the Guardians and Minnesota Twins. They have a 7.5-game advantage over the Kansas City Royals. Overall in the American League, the New York Yankees have three fewer wins in three fewer games played while the Phillies are right on Detroit's heels for the best record in all of baseball at 35-19.
The Tigers are now 21-8 at home at Comerica Park, 16-12 on the road and 6-4 in their last 10 games.
But as the 2025 season approaches June, a common benchmark that tends to show which teams are going to remain contenders and which others may fade away as pretenders, it's clear the Tigers aren't going anywhere and will keep bouncing back from any inevitable rough patches that may pop up over the course of the season.
