Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Inter Milan manager, Simone Inzaghi, in recent weeks.

They are reportedly keen on the 51-year-old Italian manager as a replacement for Ange Postecoglou, but they have been dealt a blow in their pursuit.

According to journalist Tom Barclay, the manager is looking to continue in Italy, even if he fails to win the UEFA Champions League with Inter Milan this season.

Tottenham need a quality manager

Fabio Paratici is reportedly keen on bringing him to England with Tottenham, but the deal seems unlikely at this stage. He has been outstanding for Inter Milan since taking over, and there is no doubt that he would have been an exceptional acquisition for Tottenham. Inzaghi has been hailed as an “unbelievable manager” by Pep Guardiola.

They need a top-quality manager to turn things around next season. It has been a disappointing season for them, and they have finished 17th in the Premier League table. Although winning the UEFA Europa League is a huge boost, it cannot paper over the cracks at the club.

Simone Inzaghi move seems unlikely

Tom Barclay revealed on The Tottenham Way podcast: “Simone Inzaghi is a sort of new one. Obviously, the Paratici link is understandable with an Italian and one who’s doing so well as that.

“The last time I spoke to quite a lot of counterparts in the Italian press, they seemed to be under the impression that he would be staying no matter what at Inter Milan next season.

“You could make the case that if he loses, he might be even more likely to stay because he wants to go and finish the job, I suppose. But I don’t know.”

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to move on from Inzaghi in the coming weeks. They are yet to make a concrete decision on the future of the Australian manager, and it remains to be seen whether he is shown the door.
