Watch: Kerry Carpenter hits three HRs in Tigers rout over White Sox

Carpenter blasted his second home run — another two-run shot — three innings later off reliever Bryse Wilson on a 2-2 count, giving Detroit an 8-0 lead.

In the top of the sixth inning, Carpenter hit a solo blast off Wilson 398 feet to centerfield for a 10-0 advantage.

Per the Tigers social media account, Carpenter became the team's first player to hit three home runs in a game since Victor Martinez on June 16, 2016.

It was Carpenter's second multi-home run game this season; he hit two in a 7-4 win over the White Sox on April 4. OptaStats noted that Carpenter's last seven hits against the Sox dating back to Sept. 29 have been home runs.

The Tigers (40-21) have the AL's best record over a third of the way through the 2025 regular season, but they entered Monday in a lull at the plate since mid-May.

Per FanGraphs, since May 17, Detroit ranked 28th in team batting average (.207) through Sunday. 

Carpenter struggled during the stretch, slashing .170/.204/.277 with one home run and 13 strikeouts in 47 at-bats (50 plate appearances). If Carpenter's home run barrage snaps him out of his slump, the Tigers, who possess a 6.5-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians (32-26) in the AL Central, will be hard to catch.
