Pass-rusher Micah Parsons is expected to participate in the Dallas Cowboys' mandatory minicamp from June 10-12 after skipping some voluntary workouts this spring amid his desire for a contract extension.
According to Cowboys insider Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News, there's no indication Parsons will put pen to paper on a deal before Dallas players officially begin their summer breaks.
"Parsons enters the final year of his contract seeking one of the largest deals in NFL history for a non-quarterback," Watkins wrote for a piece published Tuesday. "His agent, David Mulugheta, is seeking a deal that could reach $200M in total compensation. This offseason, Parsons talked to team owner and general manager Jerry Jones about his contract, but nothing of substance has occurred with Mulugheta, who is authorized to secure a contract based on the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement."
First-year Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters on Tuesday that he believed Parsons would report for mandatory minicamp. Later in the evening, Parsons addressed the topic via social media:
I will be there! I haven’t missed a mini camp in 4 years! Even though the contract is not done, I have teammates and a playbook ! I’m preparing as if I will be on the field the first week of camp! But it’s in the owner’s hands. I’m ready to win a Super Bowl ! https://t.co/gMsfQEDYo7

Also on Tuesday, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said he would let reporters know about a potential Parsons extension "when it happens."
Watkins seemed to confirm previous takes that claimed Parsons and Mulugheta are looking for a contract that will surpass the four-year, $160M extension that included $123.5M guaranteed that Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett received earlier this offseason. It's unclear how T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers getting an extension either from his current employer or a different club this summer could impact how much Dallas will have to pay Parsons.
Parsons turned 26 in late May, while Watt will be 31 in October.
Last summer, Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had to wait until late August before he inked a four-year, $136M deal. It was only learned hours before the Cowboys' 2024 season opener that quarterback Dak Prescott had agreed to a four-year contract extension reportedly worth $240M with $231M guaranteed.
Thus, history shows negotiations between Parsons' camp and the Cowboys could continue through the start of training camp. It remains to be seen whether he will participate in those summer sessions if he doesn't have an extension in hand at that time.
