With Jalen Ramsey and the Miami Dolphins still exploring a trade, the team should consider replacing him with another star cornerback.
On Monday, NFL Media's Ian Rapoport tweeted the Green Bay Packers are releasing CB Jaire Alexander. Per Over the Cap, cutting the 28-year-old CB yields $17.11M in cap savings for the Packers and incurs $7.51M in dead cap.

Ramsey hasn't changed his mind about playing for the Dolphins. The Super Bowl LVI champion is reportedly planning to skip Miami's mandatory minicamp, scheduled to start on Tuesday.
"The secondary is already an issue for Miami's defense, and it will be even more of one if the Dolphins are able to come to an agreement on a Ramsey deal," wrote CBS Sports' Jared Dubin in a story published Monday. "Alexander would immediately become the top cornerback on their roster."
Last season, the Dolphins tied for the league's eighth-fewest passing yards allowed (210.6), but losing Ramsey would leave a hole in their secondary. In 17 games in 2024, he had two interceptions and 11 passes defended.
In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Dolphins selected Florida CB Jason Marshall Jr. with pick No. 150, a potential project player. In four seasons with the Gators, he defended 25 passes but intercepted only two.
Alexander has battled injuries over the past two seasons, missing 20 games because of groin, back, knee and shoulder issues.
If he can stay healthy in 2025, he could reestablish himself as a premier defender. In his first five seasons with the Packers, the 2018 first-round pick made two Pro Bowls and earned two second-team All-Pro nods.
Replacing Ramsey with Alexander could ensure the Dolphins secondary remains intact, which will be pivotal after going 8-9 and missing the playoffs last season.
