Sherrone Moore, Michigan get another huge recruiting win over Notre Dame

The Michigan Wolverines are slowly but surely putting together an impressive 2026 recruiting class.

On Monday, the Wolverines picked up a commitment from four-star EDGE McHale Blade over Notre Dame. On Tuesday, it was announced that the Wolverines got another big recruiting win over the Fighting Irish.

Alister Vallejo, a four-star defensive lineman from Liberty Hill, Texas, committed to Michigan over Notre Dame. The Kansas Jayhawks were also in the running for his commitment.

Vallejo checks in at 6-foot-3, 310 pounds, and he's a big-time recruit. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 32 defensive lineman in the 2026 class, and he's the No. 31 recruit from the talent-laden state of Texas.

Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito was Vallejo's primary recruiter, and the connection he made with the big defensive lineman after the Wolverines offered in April may have been the key factor in this recruitment.

“It meant a lot to get the offer,” Vallejo told The Wolverine after an April unofficial visit to Ann Arbor. “I had great conversations with Coach Espo. He kept it honest and transparent. For how successful and big that program is, it means a lot to me. The fact that Coach Espo wanted to build a connection and get some eyes on me first showed what kind of person he is.”

Michigan now has nine 2026 commitments, and Vallejo has become the Wolverines' second-highest-rated commit behind quarterback Brady Smigiel.
