With summer heating up and the trade deadline approaching, the prospect pipeline will pick up as teams look to see how their top prospects handle the big leagues.
With three of the top 10 prospects in baseball already getting the call in 2025, here are three players in the National League who should be next in line.
Bubba Chandler, pitcher, Pittsburgh Pirates
2025 MiLB stats: 2-1, 2.63 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 70 strikeouts in 51.1 innings pitched
The number two overall prospect in baseball, Chandler has nothing left to prove in the minors and he likely would have already been called up if the Pirates were in the playoff mix.
Chandler has limited opposing hitters to a .190 batting average while surrendering only two home runs this season in Triple-A.
With an elite fastball that averages 97 mph, Chandler's offseason focus was on refining his secondary pitches and not relying solely on his fastball. The results so far in 2025 have shown big jumps in that area while also improving control of his heater.
While the Pirates haven't rushed him to the majors, he has earned the call-up and should get that chance before the 2025 season is over.

Chase Burns, pitcher, Cincinnati Reds
2025 MiLB stats: 6-3, 1.83 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 82 strikeouts in 59 innings pitched
The second overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, Burns has flown through the Reds organization, reaching Triple-A in his first professional season.
With a fastball that sits in the upper 90's while routinely touching 102 mph, he's out pitch is his wipeout slider that might be the best secondary pitch in the minor leagues.
While he struggled with command in his Triple-A debut, Burns has shown much improvement in that area since his college days at Wake Forest.
The Reds are doing their best to stay alive in the playoff hunt, and adding someone of Burns' caliber to the starting rotation could be the boost they need to help them close the gap in the wild-card race.

Justin Crawford, outfielder, Philadelphia Phillies
2025 MiLB stats: .344/.411/.439, 16 extra-base hits, 26 RBI and 23 stolen bases in 54 games
The son of former major league outfielder Carl Crawford, Justin has continued to show his elite ability to get on base in 2025. Crawford is also on pace to set a career-high in runs scored, having crossed the plate 45 times in 54 games.
Possessing elite speed and contact, Crawford has nothing left to prove and the Phillies could desperately use his bat in the outfield with Johan Rojas, Max Kepler and Brandon Marsh struggling to make an impact for the defending National League East champs.
While Crawford hasn't demonstrated the ability to hit for power consistently, he is still only 21 years old.
If he can find his power stroke as he gets older, Crawford could be an All-Star caliber bat for the Phillies while patrolling centerfield at Citizens Bank Park.
