The New York Yankees are on the verge of making the wrong kind of history after another shutout loss on Tuesday night.
The Yankees fell, 4-0, to the Los Angeles Angels, giving them their third straight shutout loss, fifth consecutive loss and extending their scoreless streak to 29 innings.
It is the first time since 2016 that the Yankees have been shut out in three consecutive games. Should the Pinstripes get shut out in Wednesday's game against the Angels, they would break the franchise record of scoreless innings (37) set by the Highlanders in 1908, per The Athletic's Chris Kirschner.
New York had no answer for Angels starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks, who went six scoreless innings for the first time this season and threw his most strikeouts (nine) since 2020.

This comes after manager Aaron Boone moved rookie Jasson Dominguez to first in the batting order and dropped first baseman Paul Goldschmidt to sixth. That clearly did not have any affect on Tuesday as the Yankees were 0-for-10 with runners on base.
Aaron Judge's struggles continued, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts, ultimately leading to a chorus of boos from the Yankee faithful. He is now 3-for-24 with 15 strikeouts and has hit a pair of homers in his last seven games, far from what fans are accustomed to from the six-time All-Star who leads the league in batting average (.372) and is tied for first in home runs (26).
The Yankees (42-30) are the third team this season to be shut out in three consecutive games, joining the Cincinnati Reds (April 1-3) and Colorado Rockies (April 11-13).
If they are going to put an end to their recent struggles, their offense must catch up to their pitching. Starter Will Warren struck out a career-high 11 batters on Tuesday night, only to have zero run support.
It is not like the lack of runs is anything new, given the Yankees have scored one run or fewer in their last six outings.
Judge and Co. must turn things around on offense, or they could be the first team to get shut out in four straight games since the Kansas City Royals in 2017.
