The Timberwolves are the most aggressive suitor for Kevin Durant, but the Suns star has "no desire" to join the franchise, per insiders.
So, how does Anthony Edwards feel about Durant's reported indifference toward the Timberwolves?
According to ESPN's Marc Spears, many in the NBA community are surprised by Durant's decision not to include the Timberwolves as one of his preferred destinations, considering that he and Edwards "were joined at the hip" during their time as Team USA teammates at last year's Paris Olympics.
Speaking on "NBA Today," Spears reported that Edwards hasn't tried to "recruit" Durant despite their close friendship.
"I heard he's in Atlanta, working on his game and eating lemon pepper wings. He's not involved, he's not trying to change [Durant's] mind," Spears said of Edwards. "He's been in the Western Conference Finals two times in a row; the team is really good. If KD doesn't want to come, he's respecting that. Don't expect him to fly to L.A. to change his mind."
Durant, on an expiring contract of $54M, has reportedly listed the Heat, Spurs and Rockets as his three preferred destinations. According to multiple insiders, the Spurs are atop that list, but the Texas-based franchise has yet to make a compelling offer to the Suns.
With teams unwilling to sell the farm to acquire the aging Durant, who turns 37 in September, the Suns reportedly have "no leverage" in trade discussions. According to The Arizona Republic's Duane Rankin, the Suns may be forced to reduce their asking price for Durant.
Durant is widely expected to be traded before next week's NBA Draft, but the Suns don't feel compelled to fast-track the process, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
